Monica Dolan-Strachan, LCSW

Monica Dolan-Strachan, LCSW

Psychotherapist
MD
I have over 33 years of experience working with children and families. I also feel a strong bond with women, motherhood, and general relationship issues. I am a certified Mediator, as well as a trauma-informed and EMDR-trained therapist. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Widener University. I have had the opportunity to work with diverse populations and believe life is often not a fair playing field, especially based on race and economics. I consider myself a generalist-someone who can handle any situation in real time and support my clients no matter what they are facing. I am very client-focused, and my goal is always to reduce symptoms. My strategies include teaching how to reframe thoughts and defining and utilizing coping skills that better serve emotional health.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I would like clients to come away feeling heard and with a plan of action, whatever that looks like. I want to be positive and supportive about our defined and weekly / ongoing goals, but I'm also aware that things can be difficult, especially for those struggling with anxiety and depression. I feel my role is two-fold and has a delicate balance. As a therapist and coach, I want everyone to succeed with their goals. I'm also realistic about how difficult things can be and ideally, we would always work together. My philosophy is any client is the "captain of their ship", but I will also push towards progress.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
