Monica Lang, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I’m Monica Lang, LMFT, a therapist who found my true calling after decades of life experience shaped my understanding of what it means to support others. Growing up in California`s San Fernando Valley, I spent my adolescent and adult years climbing the corporate ladder in retail marketing. But when my mother passed in 1996, I experienced a profound shift, realizing my true purpose was to help others navigate their life’s path. Since then, supporting people through their journeys has been my life’s work. Outside of therapy, I’m an avid knitter and needlepointer, and I’ve discovered I can even read and knit at the same time! I’m a lifelong bibliophile with thousands of books and 15 bookshelves to prove it. My love of traditional handwork and curiosity about history and culture enriches my approach to therapy. I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges with honesty, support, and practical tools for the road ahead.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In therapy, I see myself as a fellow traveler on your journey. I’m not the expert on you; instead, you invite me into your world, and I walk alongside you with a “backpack” full of tools and skills to help you along the way. I’m known for telling it like it is and adapting our focus to wherever you need, whether it’s the present, the past, or the future. My approach is integrated to meet the unique needs of each individual, combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, existential principles, and behavioralism to create a therapeutic experience that resonates with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I specialize in working with adolescents and adults of any age. My areas of focus include Addiction Therapy, Adolescent Therapy, Anxiety, ADHD, Bereavement and Grief Counseling, Christian Counseling, Codependency, Co-morbidity, and Domestic Violence.
