Getting to know Monique Hernandez

My name is Monique Hernandez, and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. Ever since I can remember, I've been passionate about psychology and the profound impact it has on our lives. My personal journey with mental health counseling not only transformed my life but also fueled my commitment to helping others. I hold a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Albizu University, and I have been practicing for three years in South Florida. My experience and dedication drive me to support my clients in achieving their mental wellness goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our initial session, we'll focus on gathering a comprehensive history of your mental health, including your experiences with anxiety, depression, and trauma. We'll also review confidentiality and its limits. This first meeting is designed to be open-ended, providing an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I’m eager to learn about your mental health concerns and explain how Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) can be beneficial for you. EMDR is a structured therapy that helps process and integrate distressing memories, reducing their impact on your current mental health. I'll ask various questions to gain a better understanding of your situation, and we may use some assessment tools if necessary. You'll also have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the therapy process. After the first 2-3 sessions, we will have a clearer picture of the treatment plan that suits you best. Together, we can discuss and explore your mental health goals. Once we develop a treatment plan, we’ll work collaboratively to learn and implement new skills, including EMDR techniques, to manage your mental health effectively. Therapy is a unique experience for everyone, and each session may look and feel different. The most important factor is your willingness to participate and make changes in your life, as this will have the greatest impact. I’m here to guide and support you throughout this journey, using EMDR and other therapeutic approaches to help you achieve your goals!

Monique was so easy to talk to! I could have stayed for hours. I truly felt she understood my perspective but also added so much insight and is helping me greatly. Thankful for her help!
I have been seeing Monique for a while now for a variety of reasons, and she has helped me so much. I have tried other therapists in the past but never found one I liked or felt comfortable being completely open with until I started seeing Monique. I couldn’t recommend her enough!
I was someone new in the therapy world, and thought I didn't need it, but things in life happen and I was routed to finding Monique & her services. From the second I sat down it was a breeze of comfort, and I released it all. Speaking to a total stranger, answering questions, but most of all finding a bond was simple and I was in shock how it made me feel. I walked out of the session wanting to return every week to learn more about myself, my past and all the reasoning behind every single episode. If your like me and are just curious, just go. I promise it feels good, and she makes you feel so at home and at peace. I will forever recommend you as a therapist. Thank you Monique!
Monique is extremely professional and knowledgeable and has been an integral part in my road to good mental health. She is very attentive and flexible when it comes to scheduling/rescheduling appointments and would highly recommend her.
