Getting to know Morgan Baker

Hi there, I'm Morgan! Hello There, I am Morgan Baker. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who has worked with individuals and couples for 11 years. When I first began, I found myself so fixated on "Am I doing this right" and "Am I saying the right thing?" Now, I realize each person is unique and should be approached as such. There is no "right" thing to say or do as a counselor. My approach is to bring a mixture of my education, expertise, and authentic personality to the table to create an accepting atmosphere to help you feel safe enough to say "I am struggling and I need help." My approach I tend to lean toward approaches that focus on how our thoughts influence our behaviors and strategies to increase emotional understanding and coping. However, there is no one cookie-cutter approach that is going to work for everyone. My approach to counseling is client-centered and will adapt depending on your needs. My focus As a Bisexual woman and mother in a blended family, I tend to click and work the best with others with shared experiences. I enjoy working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship struggles to reach their individual goals. However, I am also extremely curious and love people for showing up authentically as themselves. I try not to limit myself to any particular *type* of person and try to accept people for who they are. My communication style I am a laid-back, down-to-earth person. I will be tactfully direct and use real language to guide you in meeting your goals. I have been told that people enjoy that I am "real" with them and they feel more comfortable showing up as their authentic selves. My journey to mental healthcare I was always a counselor; I just didn't realize it immediately. Counseling is every bit a part of who I am as a person as being a mom. However, I didn't realize this until one semester in college, where I was actually studying to be a forensic psychologist.
