Getting to know Myanah Simmons

Hi, I’m Myanah Simmons, and I want you to know that therapy with me is a space where you can show up just as you are. My approach is compassionate and collaborative, I believe in walking alongside you while offering tools and perspectives that support your growth. I value the unique experiences and identities my clients bring, and I work to create a safe, affirming environment where you feel seen and understood. Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, or simply seeking more balance, I’m here to help you uncover your strengths and move toward the life you want.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel a little nerve-wracking, and that’s completely normal. In our first sessions, we’ll focus on building trust and moving at a pace that feels right for you, there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. You don’t have to come in “perfect” or with everything figured out. Some days you may want to dive deep, and other days you might just need a safe space to breathe. Either way, you’ll be met with compassion, support, and practical tools to help you move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative and tailored to each person’s needs. In our first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you; your story, strengths, challenges, and goals for therapy. This helps us build a strong foundation of trust and understanding. From there, we work together to create a plan that feels realistic and supportive, while leaving room to adapt as your needs evolve. I often use a blend of approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness strategies, and strengths-based techniques, but I adjust my style depending on what works best for you. Some clients need practical tools to manage stress or anxiety in the moment, while others benefit more from exploring deeper patterns, processing life transitions, or building self-compassion. Throughout the process, I check in regularly to make sure therapy feels helpful and aligned with your goals. My ultimate aim is to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered, not just in sessions, but in your everyday life.
