Nadia Abbas, LCSW

Psychotherapist
661 W Lake St, Ste 2S, Chicago, IL
I truly believe therapy is a journey and a collaborative process where I honor the path that enables my clients to achieve their objectives. I am committed to a systematic, client-centered approach with the understanding that clients have the answers. Working together, we can achieve deeper awareness that leads to personal growth and healing in a safe and trusting environment. As a medical social worker in a hospital setting and a therapist, I meet and work with patients, clients, and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I have experience in areas such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, PTSD, trauma, spirituality, grief, life transitions, family changes, and relational issues. My prior experience as a physician uniquely positions me to understand the biology behind the body and soul, allowing me to deliver a holistic approach to healing. In my current role at an academic research hospital in the adult trauma service, I work with highly vulnerable individuals who often experience both medical and emotional trauma and require the highest levels of treatment and long-term care. I am motivated to relentlessly serve, compassionately treat, and meticulously care for my clients. I was born and raised in New York City but consider myself a citizen of the world—living and serving globally while now putting down roots locally in Chicago. I am fluent in Urdu, Hindi, and Pashto, and proficient in Farsi/Persian, Arabic, and French. As a child of an engineer for the United Nations, I had the wonderful opportunity to live in the Middle East and South Asia. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago and my Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Khyber Medical College, University of Peshawar, specializing in medicine and surgery.
