Getting to know Nadia Riazat Kesheh

I’m a mental health counselor with 25 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of mental health and life challenges. I work with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, and LGBTQ-related concerns. I also support clients navigating significant life experiences, including major transitions and the emotional impact of serious or terminal illness. My approach is grounded in humanistic psychology and client-centered care. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). I strive to understand each client within their individual psychological, cultural, and personal context while helping them develop practical tools and work toward meaningful, achievable goals. I have also written a book about bipolar disorder, reflecting my longstanding interest in mental health education and support.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe you deserve to feel heard, respected, and understood in therapy. I take the time to understand your values, culture, experiences, and perspective rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I will work with you collaboratively to identify what matters most and set goals that are meaningful to you. My role is to provide support, guidance, and practical strategies while helping you build the confidence and skills needed to move toward those goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin by establishing rapport and creating a comfortable environment where you can openly discuss your concerns. During the intake, I learn about your current challenges, background, strengths, and goals so we can develop a clear understanding of what you would like to accomplish through therapy. After the intake, we collaboratively create a treatment plan based on your individual needs and priorities. We then begin therapy using appropriate evidence-based approaches, with the goal of providing practical support while helping you make steady progress toward your goals.
