It is essential to talk through different therapy strategies with clients to determine what suits them and meets their treatment expectations. Regardless of the treatment modality, setting realistic treatment goals is crucial and allows clients to see change as they work through treatment. I believe that people have an innate capability to process obstacles in their lives and re-frame how they view personal problems so that seemingly unsolvable life challenges become solvable. Throughout my career, I have naturally gravitated toward solution-focused behavioral health interventions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the idea that people can get caught in dysfunctional thinking, behavior, and emotional patterns. All a person has to do to break these patterns is change the way they think about the context of the problem. I find this an essential first step in addressing issues that one has been stuck on for a long time. Sometimes changing how you think about situations can take time, so I also emphasize building distress tolerance as a critical therapeutic goal. Being able to tolerate discomfort is an essential skill that can be applied in many situations and is something I focus on with clients. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, which has provided me with a strong foundation in evidence-based practices and a deep understanding of human behavior to support my clients effectively.
