Naiji (Nikki) Weng, LPC

Psychotherapist
IL
You don’t have to carry the tension between cultural expectations, identity, and personal growth alone. I’m Nikki (Naiji) Weng, MEd, NCC, a therapist with Chicago Psych Therapy Group offering online therapy across Illinois. Having grown up between China and the U.S., I bring a deep understanding of bicultural identity, transition, and belonging—and I integrate this awareness into my work with clients. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, solution-focused, and narrative approaches. I see therapy as a space where you can explore challenges safely, rediscover strengths, and move toward balance and authenticity. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, cultural stress, identity exploration, or life transitions, we’ll work together to clarify what healing and growth mean for you. I value transparency around treatment planning, communication, and progress. I accept Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans, and can help clarify benefits and out-of-pocket costs before we begin.

What should a new client know about working with you?

*I view therapy as a partnership—you bring expertise in your own life, and I bring tools and perspective to help us move forward together. *My style is empathetic, curious, and nonjudgmental. I want therapy to feel safe, collaborative, and centered on what’s most meaningful to you. *I tailor each session to fit your needs. While I integrate several evidence-based methods, I adapt based on what resonates for you rather than following a rigid structure. *You are always encouraged to share feedback about how therapy feels—your comfort, pace, and needs will guide our direction. *I believe that growth takes courage, and that small, intentional steps can create lasting change. *Confidentiality and respect for your autonomy are at the heart of my work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

1. Intake & Exploration – We start by getting to know your background, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to gain. Together, we identify your goals and what feels most important right now. 2. Planning & Orientation – I offer a flexible plan for our work, outlining the methods and focus areas that may best support your goals. We refine it collaboratively, so it feels like a shared roadmap. 3. Active Work – We explore patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior; introduce tools and perspectives; and practice applying insights to daily life. 4. Progress & Reflection – As you experience shifts or challenges, we revisit your goals and reflect on progress, adjusting direction as needed. 5. Closure & Integration – Toward the end of therapy, we focus on consolidating what you’ve learned and strengthening your ability to maintain progress beyond sessions. **Throughout, I emphasize flexibility and collaboration—therapy evolves with you. My goal is to help you feel empowered, grounded, and supported as you move toward greater self-understanding and balance.
