Nakia Anderson, LPC

Psychotherapist
PA
Many people who reach out to me are holding things together on the outside while carrying a lot on the inside: the weight of trauma, seemingly endless anxiety, or experiences that never quite got resolved. You might be a tradesperson, a caregiver, a professional, or a creative. You don’t need a particular background or the “right” words for what you’re feeling. Finding those words is part of what we do together. I’m a clinical mental health counselor with 30 years of experience who specializes in trauma and adult anxiety disorders. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable for you. Sessions follow a gentle structure, so you’ll always have a sense of where we are and where we’re headed, with plenty of room for warmth, patience, and being human along the way. My approach draws on CBT, Internal Family Systems, Prolonged Exposure, and Compassion-Focused Therapy. In practice, that means we’ll work together to understand what you’re carrying, build skills that help in everyday life, and approach harder material when you feel ready. I work with PTSD, complex PTSD, adult anxiety disorders, and racial trauma. As a woman of color and an ally to the LGBTQIA2S+ community and sex workers, I offer an affirming, non-judgmental space. I’ll meet you with compassion, and when it’s helpful, I’ll gently invite you to see things from a new angle. If you’re curious about this kind of work but unsure whether you’re “ready,” that’s a perfectly good place to start. All sessions and consultations are virtual. My fees reflect the depth of training, experience, and care I bring to this work.
