Nancy Van Saun, LCSW

Psychotherapist
PA
Greetings! Let me introduce myself-I'm Nancy Van Saun, LCSW, licensed under number CW 013529. I earned my Bachelor's degree from the University at Albany and my Master's in Social Work from Michigan State University. I have been trained in numerous modalities and theoretical frameworks, which allows me to adapt my approach to each client's unique needs. Having worked with many diverse populations, I believe this broad experience enriches my understanding of a client's life perspective. My approach I tailor therapy to the client's needs, viewing therapy as an interactive, dynamic relationship. We begin with the presenting problem-whether it's relationships, trauma, chronic illness or pain, childhood issues, depression, anxiety, and more. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to support clients in their healing journey. My focus I primarily work with adults on an individual basis and feel most comfortable with clients who engage actively in therapy rather than passively. I work with women, the elderly, clients with disabilities, and others facing challenges in their current life circumstances. This focus allows us to explore root causes such as childhood experiences, trauma, communication skills, and coping strategies. Together, we identify barriers to improving functioning and work toward meaningful change. My communication style I am honest and strive to balance giving constructive feedback with creating a safe space for reflection and dialogue. I do not see myself as a passive listener or confrontational therapist. Clients often describe me as friendly, funny, and empathetic, qualities I bring to every session to foster trust and connection.
