Getting to know Dr. Nancy Vreeland

I’m a doctoral-level psychologist with advanced training in anxiety disorders and health psychology. My work is rooted in both research and over a decade of real-world experience helping adults navigate worry, medical illness, aging, and life transitions with greater clarity and confidence. I’ve supervised and trained others in large medical settings to do the same.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer structured, time-limited therapy grounded in CBT and ACT—approaches proven to help people feel better, faster. But this isn’t one-size-fits-all. Together, we’ll develop a plan that fits your goals, values, and pace. You're in the driver’s seat; I’m here as a supportive co-pilot offering guidance, insight, and practical strategies.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initially, your first session(s) will involve talking about your concerns and getting to know you better. Next, you’ll learn about the nature of your struggles, understand the cycles that keep you stuck, and receive options on where to intervene first. This should be an “Aha!” type of experience that leaves you empowered to try something new. Next, we get into the heart of treatment. This is where you experience a warm and supportive environment to try new ways of relating to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We will teach you to look for physical signals that give us a peek into your mental health. You'll be tracking certain habits and completing experiments between sessions. The more work you put in outside of session, the faster therapy goes (typically.) My goal is to get you to a point where you do not need me- a bittersweet and joyous moment!
