Getting to know Nancy Welsh

Welcome—I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Nancy Paz Welsh, a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing virtual therapy to adults throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Illinois. My approach is shaped by both my personal and professional experiences. As the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, a wife in a biracial marriage, and a mother of two, I understand that identity, culture, relationships, and family expectations can deeply influence how we experience and navigate life. Throughout my career, I’ve also had the privilege of supporting people from diverse backgrounds, communities, and stages of life. I strive to create an inclusive space where every part of your story is welcomed, respected, and understood. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. You may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or caught in patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy can offer a place to slow down, better understand yourself, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence. My therapeutic style is warm, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative. Our conversations may feel natural and approachable, but they will also have purpose and direction. I offer compassion alongside gentle accountability, helping you recognize unhelpful patterns, strengthen coping skills, and make choices that align with your values. We’ll work at a pace that feels manageable while remaining focused on meaningful and lasting growth. Starting therapy may feel daunting, but you don’t have to have everything figured out before taking the first step. Come as you are, and together we’ll work toward greater understanding, healing, and meaningful change. It would be an honor to support you along the way!

What should a new client know about working with you?

believe that we are first and foremost humans, so getting a bigger picture about you is vital before jumping into the challenges we are facing. The therapy process is a individualized process that I want us to work on together starting from goal setting all the way to problem solving. This is a safe place for you to speak your mind without judgment and feeling comfortable. I always like to say that my client's are the drivers of this experience and I am here to guide.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Nancy is the best at listening and helping you process difficult feelings. Very judgment free and very personable care, I love the amount of care and empathy she has but also the way she is able to make sure I process my own feelings instead of inputting her own opinion! She is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, especially for Latinx adults.

Nancy is the best! Very validating and understanding. As a young adult it’s hard to find a therapist who you feel like “gets you” but she does!

I always look forward to my sessions with Nancy. She keeps it real and truly helps you think for yourself rather than thinking for you. She is culturally competent and thorough with tying multiple sessions together and generating themes.
Dr. Paz was very friendly and inviting. It was my first therapy session and she helped me feel comfortable and really listened to what I was saying.
