“Natalie taught me a very important thing about what I was struggling with. She didn’t judge me or immediately tell me to not think that way , but weather we worked through it and talked about what I was actually feeling and not what some people want you to feel.”

Getting to know Natalie Cohen

Are you looking for your life to be different somehow, but you aren't sure exactly what that would look like, let alone how to make it happen? I can help you identify your most pressing issues, then guide you in finding solutions that resonate with you and support you as you begin to make changes. I believe you are the best person to discover your own solutions, and sometimes all you need is encouragement and acceptance to get started. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University and work from a background of existential theory-the idea that our human experiences are shared and that we all seek meaning, purpose, satisfying relationships, and personal freedom. I blend this with cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), motivational interviewing, radical acceptance, and humor-techniques proven through research to be effective. My goal is to be easy to talk to, an excellent and attentive listener, and always supportive. I often recommend helpful assignments between sessions to help you practice new skills and uncover hidden aspects of yourself. I specialize in helping people who have been codependent on their partners become empowered to love fully and be loved in return. I can also teach you specific techniques to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. For me, therapy is about helping you look at yourself honestly, build up the qualities you love about yourself, and improve the things you wish were different.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session will be primarily about gathering information. After the first session, you will be in control of what you choose to share and when you choose to share it. During ongoing sessions, we will evaluate how your "homework" went, what observations and experiences you had between sessions, and what your next steps will be for future sessions. Homework is always optional, although most people feel better more quickly when they approach their homework with an open mind and a curiousity about what "feeling better" means in their day to day life.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
