Nathalia Freitas, MA

Psychotherapist
7450 Dr Phillips Blvd, Ste 314, Orlando, FL
I am a Florida Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) providing counseling to adults and older adults. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, behavioral concerns, and challenges with emotional regulation. My approach is practical, collaborative, and individualized. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused techniques to help clients better understand patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and develop skills they can use outside of therapy. I completed my clinical training at the Orlando VA Medical Center, where I worked extensively with veterans experiencing anxiety, trauma-related concerns, depression, adjustment difficulties, and life transitions. I also have experience working with children and adolescents and understand the importance of adapting therapy to the client’s developmental level, personality, and individual needs. I provide services in English and Portuguese and strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves while also working toward meaningful and measurable change. Florida Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. Services are provided under the supervision of a Florida Qualified Supervisor.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel unfamiliar, especially when you are not sure what to expect. During our first session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, and what you would like to change. I will also explain confidentiality, answer your questions, and work with you to identify goals for treatment. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first appointment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy begins with understanding you as a whole person rather than focusing only on symptoms. During the first few sessions, I will learn more about your concerns, history, strengths, relationships, and goals. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that reflects what is most important to you. Sessions may include exploring patterns, identifying unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, practicing coping and communication skills, problem-solving, and developing strategies you can apply between sessions. With children and adolescents, I may also incorporate developmentally appropriate activities and collaborate with caregivers when clinically appropriate. My goal is for therapy to be supportive while also helping you make practical progress toward the changes you want to see.
