Getting to know Nathan Watkins

I'll help you (and your family) find joy in navigating school, raising children, and forming healthy relationships. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Arizona State University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, I specialize in Play Therapy, Trauma, Family Therapy, Self-Esteem, Parenting, and Co-parenting. I work with children, teens, and adults. My therapeutic modalities include Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sand Tray, Narrative Therapy, and Experiential Therapy. I am a Registered Play Therapist, AutPlay Certified, EMDR Trained, and trained in Adlerian Play Therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My first and primary goal is for you to feel comfortable in a setting that is normally uncomfortable. I use a collaborative and psycho-dynamic approach during our sessions which allows for identification of themes than have been impacting your life. With children we use play therapy which allows for children to use their primary language to learn, grown and process. I am warm and meet kids on their level which allows for them to feel comfortable from the beginning.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will work together to identify goals and how to best support you in achieving that. Appointments are 50 minutes long and our first few appointments will be building a relationship and me gathering information to better support you.
