Getting to know Nathaniel Ely

I first got my start in ministry as a worship leader and musician, and later I worked in the private and public school systems as a teacher. These experiences opened my eyes to the need for people of all ages to find healing and a pathway through their difficult experiences. This desire led to a passion for counseling and walking with people through the healing process. I hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis, and earned both a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master's in Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. My therapy career began in private practice. Afterward, I worked as a child therapist at a community mental health clinic, followed by a group private practice specializing in couples therapy. After several years in private practice and through countless hours of training and experience, I've expanded my work to couples, individuals, families, children, and teens. For those seeking recovery from painful experiences, I also specialize in trauma recovery as an EMDR therapist. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is one of the best evidence-based trauma recovery models that uses bilateral stimulation to help our bodies and minds reconnect, moving toward emotional regulation. My passion is in helping people understand the deeper issues that drive our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, moving toward a healthier relationship with ourselves and others. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I now live in Pasadena with my lovely wife and our cat, Scampi. I enjoy running, hiking, movies, and TV shows while shredding on my guitar as much as possible. I'd love to walk with you through the healing process.
