Natoshia Wellman, LPC

Psychotherapist
LA
We all have times in our lives when we need the help and support of others. And we all need a place where we can share our burdens and feel understood. My goal is to provide an encouraging, non-judgmental, therapeutic environment where you feel free to share the hard things about your life; the things that you are afraid to tell others or maybe even acknowledge to yourself. Together, we will collaborate in helping you reach your goals, whether that be coping with loss, depression, or anxiety, learning new skills, discovering yourself and your unique strengths, or finding your purpose and joy. For my theoretical orientation I mainly draw from cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. I find these to be practical and encouraging therapies that build on the strengths you already have. And while you may be feeling discouraged right now and cannot fully recognize it, you do have strengths.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I would love to have the opportunity to work with you and build a counselor-client relationship where you feel valued, understood, encouraged, challenged, and supported. Counseling is my second career, and it is where my heart is. I have a personal journey of emotional healing covering 17 years, and I was so impacted by counseling and my own counselors that I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in the field and give back to others. I have a heart for those who are struggling with anxiety and depression, those who feel lost and disconnected from themselves and/or others, and those who feel like they don’t belong or are not “good enough” (you are!).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will meet you wherever you are in your journey and help you work towards building the meaningful and fulfilling life you desire. Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about your background and what has led you to seek therapy. Therapy is a process that unfolds over time, and together we'll build a foundation for our work. It's completely natural to feel a bit nervous before your first appointment—many people do. We'll take things at a pace that feels right for you, and I'll be here to support and guide you every step of the way.
