I work with adults, adolescents, and families using a psychodynamic approach. I address mood issues, co-occurring disorders, inappropriate adolescent behavior, and substance use issues. My style is informal and empathic. I have thirty years of experience and hold a Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been told I create a safe and trusting environment from early on. I'm pretty casual and use humor quite a bit. My approach is primarily psychodynamic and systems based. What does that mean? I focus on emotions and use our relationship and emotions that arise in session to help you work thru issues and gain insight. I also look at how problematic behaviors may be related to family, work, social and external systems .

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will complete a thorough assessment, either formally in one to two sessions or informally over weeks depending on your needs. It may take a few weeks to begin to gain rapport and trust. A treatment plan will be discussed early in the process and I can help clarify your goals.
