Getting to know Nerlande Therlonge

At Unfragmented Care, I am committed to helping individuals navigate life's emotional, relational, and spiritual challenges with empathy, understanding, and practical support. With a Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University, I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and rebuild their sense of self, all while integrating emotional healing, spiritual guidance, and cultural sensitivity. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or struggles with faith, my goal is to help you find clarity, strength, and peace as you move forward on your journey toward healing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you begin therapy with me at Unfragmented Care, you can expect a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where your feelings and experiences are truly heard and valued. My approach to therapy is holistic, combining emotional support with practical tools for personal growth, while also integrating spiritual guidance, particularly for those navigating faith-based challenges. I aim to tailor each session to your unique needs, helping you address underlying issues, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward long-lasting change. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, so you'll be an active participant in your healing process. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or doubts about your faith, together we will explore solutions that honor both your emotional well-being and your values. I also offer therapy in both English and Haitian Creole, ensuring that language and cultural sensitivity are part of our healing work. I want you to feel safe, heard, and empowered throughout your journey. While the process of therapy can be challenging, my goal is to help you leave each session with a sense of clarity, hope, and actionable steps toward healing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you first begin working with me, our initial session will focus on getting to know you better and understanding your unique challenges. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, including any specific concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationships, or your faith. I'll ask questions to understand your background, values, and the emotional or spiritual struggles you're experiencing. This session allows us to build rapport and ensure that I can offer the support you're looking for. Following the intake, each session will typically begin with a check-in to see how you're feeling and what’s been going on in your life. I’ll help you explore any challenges you may be facing in the moment, whether they are emotional, relational, or spiritual. Based on your needs, we may use a combination of talk therapy, mindfulness techniques, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and, when appropriate, faith-based or spiritual guidance. I believe in a collaborative process, so you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings openly, and together we’ll develop strategies that resonate with your life and goals. Throughout therapy, I may assign "homework" or practical exercises to help reinforce what we've discussed and to encourage growth between sessions. As we progress, we'll review your goals and the work we’ve done together, making adjustments as needed to keep moving forward in a positive direction. Whether you're seeking deeper emotional healing, better tools for coping, or stronger spiritual clarity, I’m here to help you feel empowered and supported every step of the way. My process is flexible and personalized, and I take great care in creating a space where you can feel comfortable, understood, and confident in your path toward healing.
