Nia King, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Nia! I grew up in a community where mental health resources were limited for black youth. That experience inspired me to become a therapist who creates spaces where Black youth and young adults feel seen, understood, and supported. I work with adolescents and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions. My focus My ideal client is ready to do the work, open to change, and willing to be honest about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Therapy is a partnership—I provide guidance, support, and tools, but lasting growth happens when clients are committed to applying what they learn. My approach I offer a safe and supportive space for those struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma. My approach is not only evidence-based but also rooted in empathy, creating a safe and affirming space for adolescents and adults to explore their emotions and experiences. With a focus on cultural sensitivity, I strive to honor everyone's background. My communication style My communication style is warm, welcoming, and laid-back, creating a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. I build trust through authenticity and, when clinically appropriate, share relatable personal experiences to strengthen connection while maintaining professional boundaries. My journey to mental healthcare My path to becoming a mental health provider is deeply personal. As a child, I attended schools that lacked the resources to support my behavioral and emotional needs. I was often labeled as active or emotional and frequently found myself in trouble without fully understanding why. As a result, I was inspired to provide care to those in need. My goals for you I help clients recognize the patterns behind their anxiety, depression, and trauma while providing psychoeducation and practical coping skills.
