“Nick is real and authentic, personable, interested, not opinionated, "superior." Never shaming or judgmental. He is a real person and the interaction feels like a mutual conversation. It feels, during our sessions, like we are both learning something. Therapists to me sometimes occur as weird or having personality issues - some are distant and clinical, some caught up in their own issues, some having unspoken boundaries which make them occur as 2 dimensional and distant / not engaged. Nick is engaged without being overbearing, and I always feel relaxed when talking with him. He is also particularly interested in trauma, which is right up my alley. His input is always interesting to me, helpful, appropriate, engaging, encouraging. What can I say except, he is "real" and authentic.”

Getting to know Nicholas Morvan

Hi there, I'm Nicholas! Hi, my name is Nick Morvan. I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University, and I am a licensed therapist. My approach to therapy involves a collaborative process that helps clients learn how to help themselves. I work with others to develop ways to battle stress, anxiety, and depression by looking at past relationships and the patterns within them. My approach I draw from different theoretical orientations that mesh well together. I implement strategies and techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy while also drawing from research in neuroscience and trauma. My focus I find that therapy is done best when I connect well with my clients. I think clients are the experts in their own lives, and I do my best to meet each client where they are at. I believe I work well with those who are willing to identify small steps and move forward despite how uncomfortable it is, in order to find peace. My communication style I think having honest conversations is foundational to the work we do. Honest doesn't always mean serious. It can involve humor and jokes, as long as it's real and genuine. My goals for you I believe that goal setting is primarily the responsibility of the client. I am happy to assist, but the issues that are most important to the client should be the priority. My first session with you In the first session, I think getting to know each other is what's most important. I'll ask a lot of questions and simply listen as you share what you've been going through. This is a time to get a feel for each other and see if you feel comfortable working with me.
