Getting to know Nicolas Bellegarde

I am a Texas native and practitioner of mindfulness meditation. I am fluent in Spanish. In practicing therapy, I work to listen deeply and get an understanding of what your reasons are for coming into counseling. Using deep listening skills, we journey together toward a space of healing and nonjudgmental understanding. The goal is the help you unfold your story in your own way, accessing an inner wisdom which can help in presenting solutions to difficult life problems and arriving at joy. The atmosphere of unconditional acceptance and genuineness are the foundations of healing, and I work diligently to create these conditions with each client encounter. I have training in EMDR (trauma processing), Dreamwork, Play therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Adventure Therapy, addictions counseling, Transpersonal/Spirituality approaches to counseling. I have worked with clients from all age ranges and myriad life circumstances. In addition to counseling at Ascension, I lead Chicago youths in Adventure Therapy programming, cultivating an enjoyment of and appreciation of the outdoors, while building communication skills and responsibility.
