41 Schermerhorn St, Ste 136, Brooklyn, NY
I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor with diagnostic privilege (LMHC-D) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I hold a Master of Science in Education in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brooklyn College. I have over 8 years of clinical experience, including 6 years as a licensed therapist. I work with adults who are navigating anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, burnout, substance use, and family or relationship challenges, including more complex concerns. I have a special passion for supporting BIPOC adults and bring a culturally responsive lens to every session. My experience spans private practice, outpatient treatment, and community mental health, and I also supervise and mentor counseling interns. My approach is integrative and evidence-based. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-focused techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt therapy, tailoring treatment to your story, culture, and goals. I have also presented at professional conferences and community events on compassion fatigue, self-care, community healing, and applying CBT to mental health and substance use. My goal is to make therapy feel accessible, affirming, and genuinely helpful.

What should a new client know about working with you?

One of the strengths I bring to therapy is the power of reframing: helping you look at a situation from a new perspective. Instead of seeing life as a series of wins and losses, we work on turning every “L” into a lesson. Either way, you grow. You can show up exactly as you are. I understand that culture, identity, family, and community shape how we experience stress and healing, and I honor that in our work together. You do not need the perfect words or a clear plan when you start. We will make sense of what you are going through together. I am trauma-informed, which means you set the pace. We build trust and safety first, and you always have a say in what we explore. I am supportive, direct, and collaborative. You can expect honest feedback, practical tools, and room to reflect and process. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling understood, respected, and better prepared for what life brings.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Assessment: Our first session is a thorough assessment. We talk about what brings you to therapy, your background, current symptoms, strengths, and goals. You are welcome to ask questions so you know what to expect. Treatment planning: Together we create a person-centered plan with clear goals that reflect what matters most to you. Ongoing therapy: Most clients start with weekly sessions. I use an integrative approach, drawing on CBT, ACT, IFS, trauma-focused techniques, and other evidence-based methods based on your needs. Sessions balance space to process with practical skills for managing anxiety, stress, emotions, thoughts, and relationships. A big part of our work is learning to reframe challenges in ways that build resilience. Coordinated care: When appropriate, and always with your permission, I coordinate with other providers involved in your care. Reviewing progress: We check in regularly and adjust the plan as your needs change. Maintaining growth: As you reach your goals, we gradually reduce session frequency and focus on keeping your progress strong so you feel confident moving forward.
