Psychotherapist
DE
I'm a mental health therapist licensed in Florida and Delaware with over 15 years of experience working in social services, including vocational rehab, case management and mental health therapy. I have worked with a variety of clients reporting different concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood instability, life changes, and parenting difficulties, but I specialize in ADHD, autism and trauma. I have a Masters in Counseling with ABA, as well as a Master's certificate in Play Therapy. I am currently all but dissertation toward a PhD in Developmental Psychology. My internship was specified toward helping children, teens, and adults heal from trauma/PTSD. I am trained in a couple different evidence-based trauma treatment modalities, Trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive processing therapy (CPT). Both treatment modalities focus on understanding the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and processing negative events through talk, structured sessions and learning to change negative thinking patterns. TF-CBT and CPT are considered two of the most effective ways to heal and process traumatic events. It is never too late to heal, even if it has been years. Many therapists don't have training or experience in helping neurodiverse clients throughout the therapeutic process. Whether working on emotional dysfunction, time and organization skills, behavior or academic difficulties, through a therapeutic environment I help clients to understand their neurodiversity and implement different techniques to improve mood and achieve their goals. Many parents need assistance in learning how to be more mindful of their child's symptoms and helping them learn to be successful in academic and social endeavors. I have training and experience in behavior modification and also work with children to learn about themselves and have more understanding for their neurodiverse super powers.
