Getting to know Nicole Denman

Hello and welcome to my virtual therapy space! My name is Nicole, and I would love to chat with you about what has led you to seek support through therapy. Often when I ask that question, I hear responses such as, "I feel overwhelmed by everything," "I worry about everything and can't seem to turn it off," "I don't want to do anything or be around people anymore," or "this really bad thing happened to me." If you ever have these types of thoughts, this might be a good space to talk about and work through those feelings. When you enter my therapy space, it is safe, private, confidential, and free of judgment. I use a strengths-based approach to work with individuals (ages 9+) who need support with learning about and managing depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. I also believe in activating natural support groups whenever possible and will engage families in sessions if appropriate. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Dayton, which has equipped me with the skills to provide compassionate and effective care. Reaching out for support through therapy can feel scary and uncomfortable at first, but the benefits and growth with the right therapist can be immeasurable. I hope I might be the right therapist for you and would love to meet with you in my virtual space! Take care and be well!

What should a new client know about working with you?

The start of therapy can be both exciting and scary at the same time. When we first start working together, we'll focus first on exploring what difficulties led you to seek support through therapy, and what strengths you have already been using to manage those difficulties. (because you have, even if you do not recognize them yet!) As therapy progresses, we will spend a lot of time focusing on how you can building on your strengths to manage not only the current difficulties in your life, but also how to activate those strengths for use when future difficulties arise. Therapy from start to finish focuses on providing insight, strengths, and coping skills to work towards being resilient and empowered.
