Getting to know Nicole Dufek

I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and a history in working in Health and Human Services, Inpatient Mental Health, and Outpatient Therapy. I have worked with children, adults, and families for the entirety of my career and have extensive history working with trauma. Apart from being a therapist, I am also a parent who enjoys reading, hiking, volleyball, and art. I value relationships with healthy boundaries and communication which is evident in my practice.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a laid back, strengths-based approach, and allow client's to lead their sessions. I primarily use the cognitive behavioral model but adjust modalities as needed. I find it important for client's to see me as both an individual and therapist to help build rapport and a trusting relationship.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will consist of getting to know each other, psychoeducation on therapy and the cognitive model, and an assessment of current symptoms and concerns. Moving forward, sessions will be client-led and focused on identified goals.
