What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that feeling comfortable with your therapist matters. I want our sessions to be a place where you can show up as you are, be honest about the things that are difficult to say, and know that you will be met without judgment. I approach therapy with genuine curiosity and respect for the fact that you are the expert in your own life. I may offer a different perspective or challenge you when I think it could be helpful, but my role is never to tell you who you should be or what your life should look like. I hope our work helps you understand yourself more deeply, let go of some of the weight you have been carrying, and feel more empowered to make changes on your own terms. I also believe humor has a place in healing. Therapy can hold difficult things without being serious every second.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to begin by understanding who you are and what brought you to therapy. As our work develops, we may look at how past experiences continue to shape what is happening in your life today. Understanding where a pattern comes from can help us figure out what you need now. From there, the process looks different for everyone. We might work on acceptance, managing difficult emotions, or changing patterns in your relationships. I don't expect progress to be linear. When setbacks happen, we get curious about them, learn what we can, and keep going.
