Getting to know Nicole Hayes

Hi there, I'm Nicole! My name is Nicole Hayes, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in the Bay Area, California, working with clients across the state via Telehealth. I earned my Masters in Social Work from San Jose State University (SJSU). I work with a broad range of individuals, from children to adults, specializing in anxiety, autism, depression, impulse control disorders, PTSD, and relationship issues, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. My approach My approach is client-centered, focusing on transformative conversations through a person-centered and humanistic lens. I help clients navigate and process feelings of depression, anxiety, complex grief, trauma, relationship issues, and the overwhelming stressors of daily life. I utilize a macro/micro framework while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My focus I have found that my experience and approach allow for a generalist style, which is a good fit for children, families, and adults experiencing life stressors that manifest as anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, stress, and mood lability. I work to support clients through transformative conversations to build and/or strengthen skills that help them feel supported and create new perspectives on their current challengesleading to feeling better and living a life they envision for themselves. My communication style My communication style is empathetic, calm, and supportive, demonstrated through active and reflective listening as well as open-ended questions that encourage conversation about the challenges clients might be experiencing. I often pivot between directive communication when creating goals or using Cognitive Behavioral techniques and non-directive communication when allowing clients to explore their presenting challenges. I also enjoy incorporating affirmations and positive reinforcement to acknowledge clients efforts, strengths, and achievements.
