“I have seen three therapists before seeing Nicole and I have not felt this validated and supported as I have with Nicole and the firm she is with (Strides Psychotherapy). Nicole is extremely patient with me, and has taught me ways to cope with my anxiety that are not only for the short term. I feel very much heard and seen in our sessions, and she treats me as gently as possible.”

Getting to know Nicole Hoffman

Hi, I’m Nicole Hoffman. I’m a Mental Health Counselor with a passion for supporting adults, teens, and children through life’s most difficult transitions—including grief, loss, anxiety, and depression. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pace University and an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from the University at Buffalo. In addition to my clinical training, I bring the perspective of having been a full-time mother for nearly a decade, which deepened my empathy, patience, and understanding of the challenges families and parents face. My professional background is diverse: I’ve facilitated bereavement groups for adults, counseled children and families coping with stress and loss, and worked with individuals navigating anxiety and depression. Earlier in my career, I worked in recruiting and client services, experiences that taught me the importance of communication, collaboration, and meeting people where they are. All of these paths come together in my counseling work today, allowing me to connect with clients in a down-to-earth, supportive, and meaningful way. My approach is warm and collaborative. I draw from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and empathic listening to help clients manage difficult thoughts and emotions. Together, we’ll work on building coping strategies that bring relief, balance, and a greater sense of well-being. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and relational approaches to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. Over the years, I’ve supported clients through trauma , grief from death, divorce, and separation, as well as those navigating stress, anxiety, and self-doubt that often come with big life transitions. I believe therapy is a space to feel heard and supported, while also building tools for resilience, growth, and healthier relationships.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll take time to get to know you, understand your concerns, and learn about your goals for therapy. Together, we’ll identify the challenges you’d like to work on and create a plan that feels comfortable and manageable for you. As we continue, I’ll provide a supportive space where you can talk openly, reflect on your experiences, and practice new ways of coping. I draw on approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and person-centered therapy, tailoring each session to your unique needs. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and equipped with coping strategies you can use both inside and outside of therapy to create lasting change.
