Nicole Lara, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing practical, compassionate therapy for adults dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, trauma, and major life transitions. Therapy with me is direct, supportive, and grounded in real-life strategies, not just nodding while you spiral for 50 minutes. I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable being honest, even about the messy stuff. My goal is to create a space where you can talk openly without judgment, gain insight into patterns that are keeping you stuck, and build tools that actually help outside the session. I use evidence-based approaches including CBT, mindfulness, trauma-informed therapy, and strengths-based techniques, tailored to your needs and personality. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or just tired of carrying everything alone, we’ll work together to help you feel more grounded, confident, and functional... with room for humor along the way, because mental health and being a human are both weird sometimes.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is direct, supportive, and conversational. I believe therapy should feel like a real human conversation, not sitting in silence while someone asks, “And how does that make you feel?” every five minutes. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand patterns, manage stress and emotions, improve relationships, and build practical coping tools that actually fit into everyday life. Having personally struggled with depression and anxiety, I understand how overwhelming and exhausting mental health challenges can feel, and I strive to create a space where clients feel genuinely understood without judgment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is centered around talk therapy in a supportive, conversational environment where clients can openly process thoughts, emotions, stressors, and life experiences. Sessions are typically 60 minutes and tailored to each client’s individual needs and goals. I tend to be direct, honest, and engaged in sessions while also creating a comfortable space where humor is welcome when appropriate, because sometimes being able to laugh in the middle of life’s chaos is part of healing too. My goal is to help clients gain insight, build practical coping skills, and feel more confident navigating everyday challenges.
