I work with clients seeking to heal trauma originating from a variety of contexts and manifesting in many different ways. While I do not limit my practice to one type of trauma, I specialize in helping individuals navigate Spiritual Deconstruction and heal from Religious Trauma and Purity Culture. Together, we replace shaming thoughts with curiosity, reclaim autonomy and power, and honor the body's ability to hold trauma and stress. Using a trauma-informed somatic approach, we access your body's natural capacity to regulate and heal. If you’ve left or stepped back from the spiritual community that was once a massive part of your life, you may be wondering what’s next. You might be stretching yourself as tall as you can, trying to get a bird’s-eye view of what you experienced and where to go from here. Maybe you confidently use words like trauma and abuse. Maybe you know you’re feeling hurt but don’t necessarily believe anyone harmed you. Maybe your view of what happened shifts day to day. If you find yourself struggling with, “I don’t even know who I am anymore,” or, “I missed out on so much,” or, “Why do I keep going back to old ways of thinking,” you aren’t alone. You can learn how to maintain relationships with loved ones while continuing to grow and change. You can disentangle your unique spirituality from high-control religion and discover your sexuality after Purity Culture and Abuse. You can feel safe again after being conditioned to fear the unknown. Healing is hard work, but it doesn’t have to be lonely. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University, which informs my compassionate and evidence-based approach to supporting your healing journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Once a client has requested an appointment and I have accepted, the client will receive an email from Simply Being with access to the client portal and all the necessary forms.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Some clients prefer to dive in and schedule their 50-minute intake session, but others like to start with a free 10-minute consultation. During the consultation call, I ask a bit about what you're hoping to gain from therapy and answer any questions you may have. This is a great time to get a feel for our connection and whether it could grow into a therapeutic relationship that feels good to you. During the first session, I first check in to see what you need most. If you aren't sure where to start, that's okay too! I'll ask if you want to just chat and wade in slowly, if there's any background information you want to share, or if there's something urgent you'd like immediate help navigating. We spend the first few sessions solidifying what you want to get out of therapy and collaborating on how to get there. Goals and preferences often grow and change as you do, so we revisit and check in often to make sure you're seeing the healing you're working so hard for. Most importantly, I have a lot of respect for the clients who sit on my couch and do this work. I know first-hand that it is no small feat to commit to therapy. My goal is to move at your pace and work with you to create your own path to healing.
