What should a new client know about working with you?

Nik views therapy as a process of guided and assisted change—like a road trip. You’re behind the wheel while they ride along with you: helping to pick a destination, just talking, or giving directions. Through this approach, they find the therapeutic journey is just as meaningful as the destination. Nik utilizes a blend of talk and art therapy, working from a person-centered and strengths-based perspective. Nik has a strong interest in bespoke holistic and trauma-informed care, often utilizing an eclectic array of techniques borrowed from CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, and beyond. Their goal in the space is to help you develop self compassion and understanding, come up with adaptive solutions to problems, and empower you to make the changes you want in order to live a values-aligned life. This involves looking at how your past and present experiences, your relationships, your thoughts and feelings, and greater systems come together to shape and influence you— and how you can use your strengths and skills to shape them right back.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At intake, Nik will meet with you to discuss your needs, concerns, preferences, and overall therapy goals. They will also work with you to examine available strengths or support systems to help you on your therapeutic journey. From there, Nik will work with you to create a collaborative treatment plan that guides and measures your progress. As needed, they'll also help you identify other service providers to ensure you're set up for success both within and outside the therapy space. Where you go from there is ultimately up to you, whether it's exploring past experiences, building your skillsets, or venting about day-to-day stressors. There are no specific timelines or expectations- just healing on your terms, at your own pace. If that speaks to you, consider reaching out today!
