Hi there, I'm Nicole! My name is Nicole O’Brien, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I work with clients statewide through TeleHealth. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, specializing in addiction, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy based on each client’s needs and the healing they are seeking. My approach My approach with each individual client varies because of their unique needs, and I want to find what works best for them. The approaches I frequently utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. These different methods help me understand where my clients are coming from so I can better assist them in the healing process. My focus I have found that I work well with a variety of ages, including children ages 8-11, adolescents, and adults who are dealing with challenges such as trauma, addiction, anxiety, and depression. My communication style My communication style is calm, personable, and compassionate. I want my clients to feel like they are in a safe environment where they can share anything without worrying about being judged. My journey to mental healthcare My interest in becoming a therapist began when I was in recovery for addiction. Even then, I found myself wanting to help others—I was there for them and listened when nobody else would. What drives me most as a therapist is seeing what a person may not see in themselves at first and then assisting them in discovering it for themselves. Education I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University.
