“Nicole was incredibly warm and welcoming. At our very first appointment it felt like we had known each other for years, and she was very engaged in listening to me. I was looking for a therapist who would be honest with me and affirm what needs to be affirmed but also push back on what needed to be pushed back on, and Nicole was very much that. She has a very calming demeanor and I appreciated her humor as well. I will definitely be booking more appointments with her in the future!”

“I feel very fortunate to have found Nicole. I immediately felt a connection with her. She is so kind, supportive and encouraging. She is a great listener and always remembers details. She has given me many new perspectives to look at which has allowed me the opportunity to really grow. I have learned tools that I have been able to implement in my life that have really helped me cope with situations I am really struggling with. I am crying typing this out because it is hard to find a great therapist like that and I am very grateful for her stepping into my life at the time she did.”

Getting to know Nicole Sela

Do you have trouble managing your anger? Have loved ones, coworkers, or your spouse/partner told you that you struggle with anger management? Are you looking for support from someone who listens with an impartial ear? I specialize in helping clients manage anger and adapt to a life of responding rather than reacting. I also work with clients who have a history of childhood trauma and those who wrestle with PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety. I use an individualized approach, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-proven coping strategies-along with various other techniques tailored to your specific needs. I pride myself on meeting you where you are while striving to create a trusting partnership, leading with an empathic ear. I believe you deserve to be seen as a whole person made up of many parts-the helpful, the hurtful, and everything in between. I provide a safe space where you can feel comfortable shedding the burdens that have become too heavy to carry alone, a space where I will help hold your pain and guide you toward more manageable days. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Loyola Marymount University. I moved to California from Minnesota in 2013 when I finally decided to escape the weather! I love anything outdoors and appreciate the year-round sunshine. There really isn't a day that goes by that I don't notice how fabulous the California sunshine is! I have three grown children, all of whom live outside California, and my extended family is all in Minnesota. Despite the distance, I'm very close to my children and family. I also have a dog, Lulu, who is quite old but still a baby at heart.

Extremely helpful with providing coping mechanisms without pressure. Genuinely cares for patients. Best therapist i’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
Nicole always helps me feel heard. She listens to me and even if she doesn't understand, she reminds me to feel my feelings and that I can do hard things. I've worked with her for over a year now, and the amount of work we have done together is very meaningful to me. I feel like I am talking to a very insightful friend when we talk, and she has created a beautiful safe space in our phone calls.
Nichole is a wonderful listener and gives good feedback. Furthermore Nichole dispenses honest feedback and not just what you want to hear but what you need to hear.
Nicole was such a kind and solid sense of support for me throughout the year and a half that I saw her. I got the sense that she truly cared about me. She remembered details I told her and always followed up on difficulties I expressed to her. She gave such useful insight while also not being a meddler, and championed me throughout our time together. Thank you Nicole!
This was my first time with therapy and what I’ve heard about finding the right therapist from my friends and peers, I feel like I hit the jackpot. With me seeing Nicole I had four people I know want to seek therapy because they saw the change in me. She makes you feel so comfortable and is just encouraging. She helps you brainstorm and troubleshoot your situations without being made to feel like you’re overthinking. She normalizes your feelings and validates them. She cares and you can see she cares. I’ve been with her for over a year now and I told her recently that even after I’m “healed” I’m still going to meet with her because she is truly the best.
Nicole Sela is a wonderful, kind, and compassionate counselor. She told me when I was just emerging back into the light, to "trust the process", which I have learned to do with her guidance. Her counseling sessions are always peaceful, relaxing, and safe. The counseling she provided is always professional and following her advice has guided me to a better version of myself. I have nothing but the utmost confidence in Ms. Sela. She has my trust.
I’ve been working with Nicole for about a year. Her insights and simple-to-follow strategies for managing through cognitive distortions and related mental health struggles have been invaluable and life-altering. She is kind, attentive and down to earth. Most of all, she provides meaningful support to make you feel capable and strong in the face of pain.
Ms. Sela attentive and has sincere for my wellbeing. She gives great guidance and helps with allowing you to come up with solutions. Very knowledgeable. After talking with her you feel like you make progress. She goes above and beyond to make sure you are on the right track. I enjoy my sessions with her.
I am so thankful to get to work with Nicole. She’s really, really good — patient, understanding, nonjudgmental, and insightful! She has helped me tremendously with some long and deep-seeded issues. I am making real progress. I am grateful to her!
