“My daughter absolutely loves seeing Nicole and has been able to implement much of what is discussed in session, outside of session. She's not only been able to manage her own worrying better, she helps others use deep breathing and positive self talk when they are having a hard time as well. My daughter always asks me when she gets to see her again.”

Getting to know Nicole Shnyder

Hello All! My name is Nicole, and I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lock Haven University. Do you feel overwhelmed both mentally and physically? Are you unsure what the feelings you're experiencing mean, why they're happening, or how to cope with them? I currently help adolescents and young adults learn about anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and trauma. I would love to also branch out and work with adults as well as the population I currently serve, but I haven't had the chance yet! I help clients identify where these uncomfortable feelings might be coming from and explore ways to manage them, aiming to improve their quality of life. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to develop a game plan that puts you on the path to self-awareness and self-care. The approach we use will depend on your needs and expectations in counseling. I encourage you to take the lead in directing your treatment, and I am here to guide and support you in any way I can. Some common types of therapy we might use together include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Whatever your needs may be, acknowledging that you need help can feel intimidating. However, you deserve to grow through what you go through and learn better ways to handle what brought you here. I will meet you with empathy, compassion, and understanding to be your partner in working through this. My goal is to be the lantern that guides you through the darkness you are facing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect to take away knowledge about the topic that you are struggling with, where those struggles could be coming from, and ways to cope with those specific struggles. I always tell clients that you have to learn about the problem before you can combat and overcome it!

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
