Getting to know Nicole Yan
My therapeutic approach is grounded in openness, appreciation, and acceptance. I believe everyone has the capacity for healing and growth. By integrating mindfulness, self-compassion, and psychological principles, I help individuals reconnect with their inner strength and build skills for meaningful change. Prior to working in mental health, I spent a decade in the corporate world. I am also skilled in life coaching, supporting clarity, confidence, and the purposeful navigation of both personal and professional transitions.
I began exploring spiritual practices in 2012 and have attended many meditation retreats since. I have been facilitating a weekly meditation group since 2018, as I deeply value the importance of nurturing and growth within a community. I have also served as a Buddhist chaplain in hospitals and am familiar with contemplative practices in health and healing.
My practice is informed by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic techniques, client-centered approach, and Buddhist psychology. I received my graduate degrees—a Master of Social Work and a Master of Divinity—from the University of Chicago. I am fluent in both English and Mandarin.
