Psychotherapist
414 E Walnut St, Green Bay, WI
I’m Nikki Hensler Gordon, MS, MA, LPC, CCI, CCISM, a licensed professional counselor and EMDRIA-certified trauma therapist based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I am the owner of Perspectives Consulting LLC, where I provide individual therapy for adults across Wisconsin through both in-person and secure telehealth appointments. I believe people are not broken—they are human. The ways we adapt to difficult experiences are not signs of weakness but strategies for survival, and therapy should honor that. My role is to provide structure, insight, and effective tools so clients can reprocess experiences that keep them stuck and move toward recovery. My approach is direct, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each person’s expertise in their own life. I use EMDR as a primary orientation, helping clients reprocess painful or traumatic memories so they no longer dominate the present. I also draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work) to help clients build understanding and harmony between their inner parts, and I integrate expressive arts methods when creativity provides a pathway beyond words. I work most often with adults navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, abuse recovery, divorce, and major life transitions. I also have specialized training in supporting first responders, veterans, and families impacted by high-conflict custody or family law cases. With a professional background in both mental health and nearly two decades in the medical field, I bring a whole-person perspective to therapy that bridges physical and emotional health. I believe therapy should go beyond symptom management. Together we focus on recovery, nervous system regulation, and clarity—so clients can move beyond survival and reclaim what matters most in their lives. I am currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth sessions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy is an important step, and I want you to know what to expect when working with me. My style is direct, collaborative, and compassionate. I don’t believe in “fixing” people or offering quick tips that fade once you leave session. Instead, I focus on helping you understand the patterns and experiences that shape your reactions, and giving you tools that actually work in real life. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a foundation. EMDR helps reprocess memories and experiences that still feel overwhelming, so they no longer dominate the present. I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work) to help you get to know the protective and wounded parts of yourself without judgment, and expressive arts when creative methods open doors that words can’t. You can expect me to be engaged and honest. I will ask questions, challenge unhelpful patterns, and celebrate your progress. I respect that you are the expert in your own life—I bring clinical expertise, but we work together to decide the pace and focus of therapy. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m straightforward and practical. If something isn’t working for you, I want you to say so—we will adjust and find what fits. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and your feedback is important. We may talk about difficult experiences, but we’ll also focus on what helps you regulate, recover, and move toward the life you want. My goal is not only that you feel relief, but that you leave with the confidence and tools to handle life beyond therapy. I work with adults in Green Bay and across Wisconsin via telehealth, and I currently have openings. Whether you’re carrying trauma, facing divorce, or simply feeling stuck, therapy with me is about moving beyond survival and reclaiming what matters most to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you begin therapy with me, we start by building a clear picture of what brings you in and what you’d like to be different. In our first sessions, we’ll review your history, current concerns, and goals, while also identifying the patterns and stress responses that are affecting your daily life. This gives us a foundation for the work ahead and helps ensure therapy is tailored to your needs. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as a primary orientation. Early on, we’ll focus on stabilization and preparing your nervous system so you feel ready for reprocessing. From there, we identify target memories or experiences that continue to hold emotional weight and reprocess them using EMDR protocols. Clients often notice a shift: what once felt overwhelming becomes more neutral, allowing space for new perspectives and choices. Alongside EMDR, I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work). This means we pay attention to the protective and wounded parts of you that may show up during therapy. Instead of pushing them away, we get curious about their role, which helps reduce internal conflict and foster compassion for yourself. For some clients, I also use expressive arts—writing, drawing, or movement—when creative methods open up insights that words alone can’t reach. My process is collaborative and flexible. I will offer structure and clinical expertise, but we’ll adapt based on your feedback and what feels most useful for you. You can expect me to be direct, engaged, and practical—I won’t sit back and nod. I’ll ask questions, offer observations, and help you connect dots between past and present. Therapy with me is not about symptom management alone. The goal is recovery, regulation, and clarity—so you can move beyond survival and reclaim what matters most in your life. Whether we’re addressing trauma, PTSD, divorce, or high-stress transitions, the process is about creating real and lasting change at a pace that works for you.
