Hi, I'm Nikki. I was drawn to helping others after working through my own struggles with anxiety and depression. Every person’s experiences are different, but I believe I can relate to you because I know some of what you are feeling. With the help of counseling, I emerged from what I call 'the pit' and immediately wanted to help others in their own pit experience. I knew I needed training to be effective in helping others. At the time, I was working in the corporate world. Both my immediate supervisor and the HR manager enthusiastically supported my Master's work in Marriage and Family Therapy. The company paid for my education! In my studies, I learned how relationships shape us from the start. We see ourselves and the world through the lens of those relationships and through overwhelming events in our lives. We get stuck in automatic responses to these. I worked hard because of my desire to see people relieved of the suffering that depression, anxiety, and trauma cause. I have a strong leaning on changing negative beliefs about self to help clients see themselves in a balanced, positive way. Beyond my degree, my training includes personality work through the WEPSS Enneagram; EMDR for trauma; and advanced EFT (Emotionally-Focused Couple Therapy) for healthy relationships. I believe in the strong relationship between mind and body. Understanding the brain and its response in relationships and the effects that overwhelming experiences can have on the brain are essential in becoming the whole, healthy people we were meant to be. You could say I’m a brain 'geek.' I received my Master of Science in counseling in 2009 from Campbellsville University. I was awarded the Outstanding MSC Student there and in 2016, I was recruited to become faculty! I received my credentialing in Clinical Supervision from AAMFT in 2017. It has been my privilege to be a part of the journey to help therapists in training as a practicum educator and Assistant Clinical Director. Tell me your story! I will come alongside you. Together, we can begin your journey of healing.
