Getting to know Nina Libson

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I strive to create a space where patients feel truly seen, supported, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and clarity. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each individual—I believe therapy works best when it feels like a conversation grounded in trust, curiosity, and genuine connection. I draw from evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and strengths-based approaches, to help patients identify patterns that may be holding them back and develop practical tools for change. My goal is not only to help you manage symptoms of stress, anxiety, or depression, but to help you better understand yourself, strengthen relationships, and build a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling. I specialize in working with young adults, college students, and individuals navigating major life transitions—such as adjusting to adulthood, career stress, relationship challenges, and family changes. I also work extensively with couples and new parents managing the complexities of marriage, infertility, sleep deprivation, and identity shifts that come with growing a family. In our sessions, you can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where we can slow things down, gain perspective, and focus on what’s within your control. My aim is to help you feel more grounded, productive, and at ease—able to move through life with greater self-awareness and peace of mind. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready to make meaningful changes, I welcome the opportunity to support you in that process. Together, we’ll work toward helping you live your most authentic and fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely supported—without judgment. Therapy with me is a collaborative process: we’ll explore what’s been holding you back, clarify what you want for yourself, and work together to create meaningful change. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and conversational. I aim to meet you where you are while helping you build the insight and tools needed to move forward. You can expect a balance of empathy and practicality in our sessions. While I always provide a safe space to talk openly, I also believe in being active and goal-oriented—helping you gain new perspectives and strategies that you can apply outside of sessions. I pull from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches, tailoring each session to your unique personality, goals, and pace. I often work with young adults and professionals adjusting to new phases of life—whether that means starting a career, navigating relationships, or becoming a parent. Many of my patients are managing anxiety, perfectionism, stress, or self-doubt while trying to juggle multiple responsibilities. Together, we’ll focus on developing balance, setting boundaries, and learning to quiet the mental “noise” that gets in the way of peace and productivity. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or stuck in old patterns, therapy can be a place to unpack it all safely and constructively. My role is to help you see possibilities where things may feel unclear, reconnect with your strengths, and leave each session with greater clarity and calm.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work begins with truly getting to know you—your history, strengths, challenges, and what’s brought you to therapy. In our first session, I focus on understanding your goals and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll talk about what’s working in your life, what feels stuck, and the patterns you’d like to change. From there, we’ll collaborate to create a clear plan that feels both achievable and meaningful to you. My sessions are interactive and tailored to your individual needs. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and a strengths perspective to help you build insight and practical tools for everyday life. Depending on your goals, this may include identifying thought patterns that contribute to anxiety or stress, strengthening communication in relationships, or learning strategies to manage overwhelming emotions. I believe that therapy should feel supportive yet productive—some sessions are about processing emotions and experiences, while others are more structured and solution-focused. I often assign gentle between-session reflections or exercises when helpful, to keep the work moving forward and help you apply insights to real-life situations. For many patients, therapy evolves over time. Early sessions often focus on stabilization and relief, while later sessions deepen into understanding long-standing patterns, improving self-awareness, and building lasting change. My role is to guide you through that process with compassion, curiosity, and practical strategies that empower you to feel more in control and at peace. Ultimately, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and equipped with tangible takeaways that help you live a more balanced and fulfilling life.
