Nina Williams, LCSW

Psychotherapist
IL
I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with you. Determining how I might best provide these services is my goal. As your Clinician, I will assist you in developing adaptation tools for life. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, we will work together, integrating Mindfulness techniques that will help improve individual awareness, as well as understand and realign the negative effects of environmental circumstances. We will prioritize concerns, recognize common thinking issues, and organize a plan to help you successfully navigate the curveballs of life. Years of utilizing Person Centered Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques have taught me the value of personal perspectives. I have grown in the understanding that even though there are similar situations occurring in everyone’s life, the impact will always have an individualized effect.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Interacting with the client determines the intervention tone and communication style. I believe every individual will bring something different to the table. I am a natural helper. Life circumstances are lessons to learn, not burdens to carry. Once I began to understand the neurological processes that motivate actions and behaviors, I became more critical of environments, intentions, and socialized behaviors. I learned that becoming a critical thinker is critical to a successful existence because it motivates you to look for what's real and not what's implied.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My business acumen has equipped me with the decision-making skills necessary to establish rapport, comfort, and a sense of reliability. These attributes demonstrate both care and focused carefulness to details when helping the client set goals. It is the client who determines the focus of their intervention. Their commitment to, and being held accountable for, the goals chosen is influential to successful treatment goals. Being personable helps create rapport. I therefore seek to establish a calm and relaxed atmosphere, person-centered, honest, and confidential. Client will laugh, sometimes cry, but otherwise feel comfortable enough to disclose the history of the concern(s) having a negative or worrisome impact on their lives, and commit to working together to reach their goal.
