Octavia obtained her master’s degree in social work from Arkansas State University and has been serving in the mental health field for ten plus years now. She graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She continued treatment services after graduating from ASU while working as a paraprofessional for child and adolescent mental health services, allowing a rising population of children and adolescents with mental health problems and their families to receive the vital support needed. After two years of working as a paraprofessional, Octavia felt called to expand her career. Answering the call, she began a course of study leading toward a master’s degree in social work and addiction counseling. While working as a mental health professional, Octavia was able to learn techniques and strategies for both individual and group treatment in organizations such as long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and school-based therapeutic settings, developing and honing her knowledge, skills, and experience as a mental health professional. Octavia has had the opportunity to examine various facets of her career as a social worker, including care coordination, crisis intervention, and medical social work With her extensive education, knowledge, personal advancement, and background, Octavia has amassed the skills and abilities necessary to provide in-patient and out-patient mental health and medical treatment services for clients and their families. Today, Octavia is currently working towards her Doctoral Degree in Social Work, where she is currently in the dissertation phase. She also has expertise and certifications in Addiction Counseling, Grant Writing Services, and is a Certified Anger Management Specialist II, allowing Octavia to be able to offer comprehensive support and care.
