Getting to know Odona Ezell-Whiddon
Counseling is a collaboration between the therapist (me) and the client (you). We will work together to establish achievable goals and create an action plan to attain them.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Counseling takes work! I give my clients homework to help them continue to make progress between sessions. In the beginning, clients should expect to be scheduled for weekly appointments. Once progress is moving along, we may move to an every other week schedule. As long as progress continues, we will eventually move to scheduling sessions further and further apart.
While I see clients of all faiths and belief systems, I am also trained to provide Christian Counseling should clients want to incorporate their faith into the counseling process.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
The first step is to complete all required documentation. Once all paperwork is completed, the first session is really more of a "get to know you" session. This is an opportunity for the client to get to know me and for me to get to know them. We will work through an intake process that includes the client's history (personal, physical, emotional, spiritual). Other sessions will include goal setting, check-ins, processing homework, and helping the client to learn new skills and tools to help the client progress toward their goals.
Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $175 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $150-175 for 60 minutes
- Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
- Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
