Getting to know Orianna Torres

My name is Orianna Torres, LMHC, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Plantation, Florida. I am the founder of Therapy with Bright Minds, a private practice dedicated to supporting children, teens, and families through anxiety, ADHD, selective mutism, emotional dysregulation, and parenting challenges. With over six years of clinical experience, I provide a structured, individualized, and collaborative therapeutic experience tailored to each family’s needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, structured, and collaborative environment where children, teens, and parents feel supported, respected, and understood. New clients can expect a thorough and thoughtful intake process where we explore not only the presenting concerns, but also family dynamics, developmental history, and your goals for treatment. I value open communication and transparency, and I make it a priority to ensure that both the child and their caregivers feel engaged and informed every step of the way. My sessions are active and goal-oriented, and I tailor my approach based on your child’s developmental stage, needs, and temperament. For younger children, I often incorporate play, movement, and visuals to promote emotional growth in a way that feels natural and engaging. For teens, I focus on building insight, emotional regulation, and healthy coping strategies, always balancing support with accountability. Parents are integral to the process, and I regularly provide tools, guidance, and feedback to reinforce progress at home. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. I take time to get to know each family’s values, strengths, and challenges so that we can work together in a way that feels aligned and effective. My goal is to help children and teens feel confident, capable, and better equipped to handle life’s stressors, while also helping parents feel more empowered in their role.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is structured, collaborative, and tailored to meet each child and family’s unique needs. We begin with a comprehensive intake session where I meet with the parent(s) or caregiver(s)—and in many cases, the child or teen—to gather a full picture of the presenting concerns, developmental history, academic functioning, family dynamics, and social-emotional strengths and challenges. This first phase is essential in identifying patterns, setting realistic goals, and building a strong foundation for therapeutic work. After the intake, I develop a personalized treatment plan based on your goals, clinical needs, and your child’s developmental stage. For younger children, sessions typically include play-based interventions, behavioral tools, visuals, and emotional coaching to support regulation and expression. For teens, sessions may focus more on emotional insight, skill-building, identity development, and navigating stressors like school or peer relationships. Parents and caregivers are always involved in the process. I provide regular check-ins, parent sessions, and feedback so that skills learned in therapy can be reinforced at home. I also offer psychoeducation and parenting support as needed. If helpful, I can collaborate with schools, pediatricians, or other providers to ensure consistency across settings. Throughout treatment, I monitor progress closely and adjust strategies as needed to keep our work aligned with your goals. My aim is to create a safe, supportive, and goal-driven space where growth can happen—inside and outside the therapy room.
