Psychotherapist
FL
Hello, my name is Oshena, but many call me Shena. I recently obtained my Licensed Clinical Social Worker credential in the state of Florida after earning my Master's in Social Work from Barry University. I have over 4 years of mental health experience, including case management, hospice bereavement and grief counseling, inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient mental health services, mobile crisis response, group therapy, adolescent therapy, and substance use counseling. I am deeply passionate about working with a wide range of individuals-young adults, older teens, adults, and older adults-to help them navigate the everyday challenges life presents. These challenges often stem from societal pressures and the need to conform, which can lead to lower self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. My approach is rooted in harnessing an individual's identified strengths and empowering them to overcome life's hurdles. These obstacles may include anxiety, depression, grief, self-doubt, anger management, boundary-setting, communication issues in relationships, burnout, and the challenges of transitioning into adulthood. My favorite metaphor is based on a rubber band: ?Like people, rubber bands come in different shapes, sizes, textures, lengths, and flexibility. If you stretch a rubber band to the max, it typically bounces back into shape due to elasticity.? I firmly believe in starting where you are to break down walls of narrow thinking, bounce back with your elasticity toward positive thinking, and push toward resilience. Having faith in yourself marks the initial stride, and by seeking guidance, you've already embarked on the next leg of your journey. You hold the resilience needed to conquer the challenges you've encountered, even if it feels daunting. In therapy, my guiding principle is to embrace healing and personal development with an open heart. I'm here to support you on this journey.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
