Getting to know Pamela Dobbie

My name is Pam Dobbie I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New Mexico I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Southwestern College, Santa Fe I am also a Functional Diagnostic and Nutrition Practitioner Although trained in numerous modalities, I lean toward Somatic Therapy, EMDR, and Brainspotting with an emphasis on trauma-informed therapy My approach I meet my clients where they are and begin from there I use CBT, Gestalt, Attachment-Focused therapy, as well as Somatic Therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting, Functional Mental Health, and Functional Medicine Diagnostics My focus I help clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, overwhelm, career dissatisfaction, chronic fatigue, and mold exposure Together, we work to overcome obstacles, gain clarity, increase self-confidence, build more energy and resilience, and cultivate vibrant health so you can better handle life’s challenges and live with more ease, fulfillment, and joy My communication style I strive to provide an open, warm, and nonjudgmental space—one where you can come as you are I’ll meet you where you are I am without agenda but not without a plan or focus to help you with your challenges I often give homework as experiments to explore how it feels to try on a particular action or tool My journey to therapy I became a therapist to help people and give back Initially, I began in Substance Abuse treatment, then moved into chronic pain and trauma work, which led me to amazing modalities I have also had my own journey with depression, anxiety, grief, loss, and trauma My goals for you When we work with goals, I like to collaborate with my clients to explore what motivates, what undermines, what disempowers and empowers, and what has worked in the past and what hasn’t My first session with you The intake session is when I begin to learn about you—what it has been like to live your life and what brings you to therapy now.
