Getting to know Pamela Gray

It is an honor for me to work with my patients and help them share their feelings and gain coping skills. I have vast experience counseling clients with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse. With a Master's in Clinical Social Work from East Tennessee State University, my background enables me to be an extremely effective and compassionate therapist.

What should a new client know about working with you?

First of all I want my patients to feel at ease. I understand some patients are shy and fearful of sharing their feelings during session (especially the first session), so I start out by sharing a little about my background and then allow the patient to share some of their goals they are working toward. If a patient doesn't know what their goals are I help with that as well by asking about struggles and worries. I really like the virtual (remote telehealth) aspect of therapy, because I believe patients feel more comfortable completing sessions from their own homes or cars.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I complete a questionnaire with the patient in the first session. This allows me to ask some questions and gives the patient time to get comfortable with the therapy process. The first session is really laid back and helps the patient to get accustomed to sharing their feelings in session.

Pamela Gray has been instrumental in helping me learn to live with chronic pain after an injury sustained by a physician. She is a compassionate therapist who cares about her patients. She is a good listener and helpful. She provides positive strategies to help me handle the "bad" days as well as reminders on ways to pace myself on "good" days. I am thankful to have a therapist who really cares about my well being.
