Getting to know Pamela Lehtonen

I`m Pamela Lehtonen, LMFT, and I`ve been part of Change Within Reach since 2019. Originally from Minnesota and Ohio, I moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and have been enjoying all the wonderful things Southern California has to offer. I have three adult sons, two grandchildren, and a husband of many years. Fun fact: I’m an identical twin and also a mom to twins! My path to becoming a therapist started with a strong desire to support and protect abused women and children. I initially planned to become a social worker for the Department of Children and Family Services, driven by my passion for addressing domestic and child abuse, which was a focus of my Bachelor`s Degree in Paralegal Studies. While researching Master`s programs in social work, I came across marriage and family therapy, which felt like a natural fit given my own experiences with marriage and parenting. That discovery led me to pursue a Master`s Degree in Counseling Psychology and become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. In my practice, I take an eclectic approach, using the therapeutic methods that best suit each client`s needs. I’ve trained in a variety of modalities—including Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused, Gestalt, Narrative, Family Systems, Client-Centered, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—and draw from these approaches to create a flexible, personalized experience. When I`m not working, I love crafting, dancing, playing tennis, and making music on the piano and clarinet. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward growth and healing.
