Dr. Pamela Ryan is a psychotherapist and owner of The Icarus Society. Trained through the University of Vienna. she offers Existential Psychotherapy, always incorporating other skills learned from DBT and CBT, to patients with emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues, specializing in trauma, depression, anxiety and existential issues. Dr. Ryan maintains a caring and nonjudgmental attitude during sessions, ensuring patients feel comfortable expressing themselves. After understanding everyone's concerns, needs, and goals, she prepares individualized, evidence-based therapy plans. She also routinely monitors progress and, if necessary, coordinates care with other mental health professionals to maximize outcomes. Dr. Ryan earned her master's degree in social work from Syracuse University, her PhD in philosophy and her Advanced Certificate in Existential Therapy from the University of Vienna, Center for Existential Analysis. She participates in continuing education to stay updated on mental health trends, research, and developments.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a person who loves people. I am endlessly fascinated by this journey and would like to share that with you. You are an interesting animal having an interesting experience. We can maximize the experience of being human, I can show you how. i work really well with all types of people (and some pets) and seek to understand and accompany you on your journey until you no longer have the need for accompaniment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Listen, ask questions, accept, support. We start off with any thing that might need immediate processing or support. From there we return to the last place we left off in exploring you, your being, thoughts, feelings, behaviors. We learn to understand you, your values and how you can better live the life you have as the life you choose. We activate your empowerment. We live meaningfully.
