Pat Pearson, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Pat Pearson, RN, LMFT. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Pagosa Springs, CO, and I work with clients statewide in California via telehealth. I serve children, teens, and adults, specializing in trauma, stress, and grief. My therapeutic tools include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Client-Centered Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My approach to therapy adapts to each client’s unique needs. I often begin with Client-Centered Therapy to build rapport and understand your preferences, then transition to the approach that best supports your healing and comfort. With 25 years as a registered nurse, I have firsthand experience with stress, compassion fatigue, and grief, which helps me connect deeply with medical professionals and nursing students. As a parent of three children—adopted, step, and biological—I relate to parents and kids alike. Having survived the 2018 Paradise Camp Fire, I understand the impact of natural disasters. I also support those coping with grief from the loss of family, friends, relationships, or pets. My communication style is calm, non-judgmental, and friendly. I strive to create a safe space where you feel comfortable sharing whatever is on your mind—even the things that keep you awake at night. There is no topic I cannot hold space for. I chose therapy after retiring from nursing. While I once helped heal bodies, I now help heal minds, spirits, and hearts. Providing a safe, comfortable environment for open conversation can be profoundly healing. When setting goals, I start with what you want to achieve during our time together. We’ll identify one or several goals, prioritize them, and choose where you feel most comfortable beginning. Goals can be adjusted as we progress.
